Do-de-do-do-do-do-do Vote for me.

Ok, so it has been a day. That is about all I can say for what has happened. Everybody in my mechanics class was complaining about how hard the test was and about how they were crushed under the time limit (2 hours and 15 minutes) and so I am more worried about having done it wrong now. If everybody else is crapping chickens over it, I think I have reason to be worried.

In my dynamics class, my teacher just told us stories all day about how he made 8 satellites and accidentally blew them all up on the launch pad. It was awesome. Math was just a dumb presentation about rocks. I used the time that was presented to me to try to study a bit for the math test. It is useless. I am dead.

Here is the final revised analogy for mathematical proofs. It is like reading the Lord of the Rings books (all of them) after having watched the movies. You know what is going to happen in the end, but for some forsaken reason, you have to go through the arduous process of finding out all of the lewd details about how it happened anyway. Then you are often required to site all of those details, and sometimes explain how to get back as well. Poor....

I just bought 20 liters of soda.

  • I saw this at BYU. It made me laugh. It is the only place in the world where you would have to make sure that everybody knows it isn't a spiritual plant.
  • This also made me laugh quite a bit. I don't have an 360, but I can laugh all the same. I am saying that it is getting posted in honor of Iron Man coming out on Tuesday.

Is it better to be feared or respected? I say, is it too much to ask for both?

As I have explained to various others, today was filled with mixed emotions and lots of events. The job fair was today, and it was quite fun. To be honest, I was kinda nervous going in, but it was pretty easy, and I thought I did fairly well. I got to talk to the guys at Stark.. er... um.. Lockheed Martin, and I even got a little flash to usb drive with the Stark, no, Lockheed Martin logo on it. Hooray for swag.

I also had the opportunity to take a test today. I was unreasonably nervous for it. Well, who knows? I haven't gotten my grade back, since it was all handwritten. Usually the tests for my civil engineering classes take me about 2 hours to complete, but this one took me about 30 minutes. I know, it is unreal, so I took some time to look it over and make sure that I wasn't just fooling myself, and that I actually did it right. After about 10 minutes, I could see neither of the following: 1. anything wrong with my work and 2. any other way to do it. I guess we will see

Here is a picture that a few people might enjoy.
Those of you who were in Cluj with me know the glory of Choco Tacos. Especially Nina. She loved them.

Dodge This...

Its Sunday afternoon, and I am procrastinating doing my homework due to an asinine assignment that I had yesterday. It was one math assignment, and it took me around 5 hours to complete. The most useful thing that anybody can take away from what I was working on is that the plural of "matrix" is not "matrixes." That is pretty much the most applicable thing to real life. Let me tell you some thoughts which have coursed through my head somewhat frequently in the last year or so...
"Hey, this is kinda interesting... maybe I should become a math major..."
"That's stupid, why would you do that?"
"I don't know. It is interesting and I am kinda good at it."
"But what about application?"
"Well, yeah, there's always that."
"I mean, math is great when you couple it with physics, but what is math alone? It's theory."
"Yeah..."
"So, what do you say?"
"... I guess I'm gonna stay in engineering..."
"That's right. Now go get me a taco."
"Wait, you're just my brain talking back to me. Why would I get you a taco?
"Just do it."
"Yes sir."
And that is how it goes.

  • I saw this shirt and it made me laugh. Oh, don't get me wrong, I would never wear it in a million years, but that isn't to say it wasn't humorous.
  • This is in honor of the math dissertation that just took place.
Hey, no math for today! Instead, Dynamics! (Which includes a great deal of math)

Birthday

Happy Birthday to Lauren!
That is about all the time I have for now
Oh, and a movie that I thought was hilarious.

Strain: Dimensionless

So here is the great story of the day. I have this professor {Dr. Christiansen [I call him Hank (but not to his face)]} who is a total pimp. He teaches all of my civil engineering classes. I had him at the end of last semester for Ce En 103, and now I have him for both Ce En 203 and 204. Anyway, one of the best parts of what he does is how he responds to stupid questions. Today, we were talking about stress and strain on materials. And this is about how the conversation went...

"So, as you can see, you divide your units, and since it is unit length per unit length, strain is dimensionless." -Hank

"Wait, Dr. C, so do you want us to write our strain in, like, inches per inches?" -Dumb student

"Uh... no... I just barely told you it was dimensionless...."

Most people aren't going to appreciate that for what it is, but a few of you out there will love the hilarity of that.

I came home with the full intention of doing my homework early and having a relaxing night, but I fell asleep for 3 hours. Now it is about 9:30, and I am still facing a butt-load of homework. Lewd.

  • Oh, it happened again, and this time there is proof...

Time to get working on homework... as always.

Poopsmith

I was blessed with the opportunity to run into Amy today on campus. This is the same Amy who Dear John-ed me a month before I came home. This is the first time I have seen her face to face, and to be quite honest, it wasn't all that bad. It was surprisingly not awkward. Now, the glory of this event pales in comparison to the math test I had today. I got an 80% on it, and I will admit that it was only by the Hand of God that I even achieved that. I guess I get to stay in the class. I hope that none of my other classes have any gay pretests like that.

This is for Dave, then I am back to homework.
Homework is a lot like shoveling crap: it never seems to end.

You m-m-m-mmm-m-make me happy.

It has been an exceptionally long day. I only had one class, but there was more than enough work to go around. My math assignment took me 2 hours 18 minutes and 51 seconds. Yes, I took my time, but then I had to study for this frakking test that I don't know when I am going to take. It has inevitably been narrowed down to Saturday or Monday. I'm not ready for it, and I don't want to pay for a retake.

There was something particularly enjoyable about my day though. I got to see a kid wearing overalls. No, it wasn't some youngster being led around by his college-age mommy. It was a student in my math class. Here are some rules about wearing overalls:
  • One may wear overalls only if he/she meets the following criteria:
  1. Said individual is under the age of 5
  2. Said individual is a farmer of some kind
  3. Said individual uses them for utility purposes
  4. Said individual has gone "full retard" like unto...
Now, I don't know if you read what it says under the title, but the tagline is "Once upon a time... there was a retard." There may be other reasons a person might wear overalls. None of them are good though...

It is only 9:30, and I think I am off to bed. Lame, I know.

The Soviet Union will be pleased to offer amnesty to your wayward vessel.

It was the first day of class for BYU. For me, it wasn't really all that bad. I only have one class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I got eased into it. I was trying to keep all of my classes on only Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but unfortunately my math is taught every day, so there was no way around that. I guess that math must be important or something.

Today we put primer on the walls of the room. We also painted. I am getting progressively more excited for it to get done as the end gets nearer. x^2 excited. The more it looks like a room, the more excited to get out from underneath the stairs. That's right, I live under the stairs. Stennett likened it to Harry Potter, except I have a window. Kinda. It is covered by a gigantic whiteboard. So its more like a shelf.

  • Luke Skywalker's lightsaber in space. This actually happened.... boo...
  • This picture makes me really want to go into space...
  • Okay, the previous comment wasn't about the hot dog, but the picture you will get if you click on the link.
  • It would be stupid if it weren't for the asterisk in the lower right hand part of the banner. It makes you wonder... were they trying to be funny, or avoid a lawsuit like these...
I'm going back to the demoness of integrals.
